Local businesses are being invited to participate in Proudly Cochrane, a marketing campaign the Town’s Economic Development office launched in the fall of 2015.

Depending on the type of business and your location, you may also need a municipal development permit or other municipal, provincial and federal authorizations. Follow the steps in BizPaL for a complete list.

Once your application and fee are received, you will receive a Business Licence Certificate. The annual certificate is required to be posted in a conspicuous place at your business location so that it is clearly visible to the public.
If your business does not have a fixed location, you must carry a wallet card (issued with certificate) on your person and/or carried in or on the vehicle from which the business is conducted. Proof of your valid current business licence must be shown on demand.
Annual business licences are for one calendar year, with renewals due January 31 each year. Invoices not paid prior to February 1 will be levied a flat rate of $30.00 on February 1 which will be a form part of the total fee owing. (20/2013)
Watch for your business licence renewal invoice at the beginning of December each year. You may also be required to book a fire inspection.
Cochrane currently has approximately 1800 active business licences, which includes approximately 600 home-based businesses.
All business licence holders are eligible to be included in the Town's online business directory free of charge.
