Demographics

Cochrane’s 2016 census was held between April 1 and 30. Census results (below) will be submitted to Alberta Municipal Affairs; the new population figure should be declared official by the province in September.

Canada's 2016 federal census is now underway. Find out more.

Why is there both a municipal and federal census? Our municipal numbers are used immediately by the Town in long-term planning discussions, and by the province in time for 2017 funding opportunities. Federal numbers will not make an impact on provincial funding dollars until 2018 and beyond.
