Mayor Brooker has managed and owned several businesses in the Cochrane area for over 30 years. He brings that experience and knowledge to his job as mayor. Mayor Brooker continues to be an active member of the local business community, and in addition to serving as mayor, he owns a Canada Bread franchise and has a number of other business interests.
“Cochrane is a great community,” says Mayor Brooker. “I am unwavering in my commitment to enhancing the quality of life in our town. My goal as mayor is to foster a progressive, dynamic and vibrant community for residents and business owners.”
Mayor Brooker was born in Calgary, and at age eight moved with his family to the Dog Pound area north of Cochrane, where his family farmed until 1979; they then moved to Cochrane.
Mayor Brooker served as Town councillor during two previous terms: 2001-2004 and again from 2010-2013. Serving the community runs in his family, as his father, Ian Brooker, served as Cochrane’s mayor during the 1980s.
“To do my job well, it is vital that I hear from the residents and business owners who live and work in Cochrane,” Mayor Brooker says. “I invite you to share your ideas and concerns with me. I also encourage you to contact your elected representatives on Town Council and Town Administration. We are here to serve you.”
