Councillor McFadden was born in Sundre, Alberta, and chose Cochrane in 2004 to raise her young family because of its small-town feel and close access to the larger urban centre of Calgary.
Councillor McFadden has always believed in being a part of the solution, and believes that if you see something that needs to be fixed, you should step up.
She is currently serving her third term on Town Council, and has been a vocal champion for growth management, economic development, public engagement and the expansion of pathways and other recreation and culture facilities.
“I firmly believe that good government requires good communications,” she says. “To ensure we make the best decisions, we must continue to engage with the people of Cochrane.” To meet this goal, Councillor McFadden writes a Council update after every meeting.
Councillor McFadden has a BA in Political Science from the University of Calgary and a diverse work background. She has worked in IT, government and non-profit industries, in positions from sales and marketing to project management.
In addition to her role on Town Council, she has held various positions in the local business and non-profit sector where she utilizes her acumen for communications, fundraising and public policy.
Outside of work, Councillor McFadden participates in endurance horseback riding; her other interests include history, writing and politics.
