Stoney Mini Dancers (Stoney translation Cold Water Dancers)

The Mini Thni Dancers (Stoney translation Cold Water Dancers) started in 2015, our first performance was at the Cochrane Light Up. The dance troupe wanted to make performances different with modern contemporary music as well as traditional music. To keep it upbeat and energetic and enjoyable for all who attend the performances. We have been a dance Troupe since, we have performed locally and are starting to make plans to expand our performance horizons and hopes to travel and perform at various venues. We are an all female dance troupe and focus around issues that effect first nation women. For example “Murdered and Missing Indigenous Women, Save Our Children” these are issues that really matter to the troupe. It is to bring awareness that this happens in First Nation communities and that it is an ongoing issue that needs to be addressed and needs to be brought to other Canadians. We are in support of this movement and awareness is addressed.

All dancers in the group range from 12-18 years old and are students of the Morley Community School and are apart of the Stoney Nakoda Nation, west of Cochrane.
The Mini Thni Dancers can be found on Facebook and on Instagram

Cochrane Culture Days was honored to receive the Stoney Mini Thni Dancers performing at Centennial Plaza and Cochrane Town Square for Cochrane Culture Days. The visiting Minister of Culture Leela Aheer along with Mayor Jeff Genung were present during Stoney Mini Thni Dancers performance.
