Sport & Activity Subsidies
Below is a list of options to assist with children's extra curricular activities.
Calgary Flames Sport Bank
It's not just hockey equipment! They are usually stocked for the five big sports: hockey, basketball, baseball, football & soccer. There's additional equipment like lacrosse & tennis as well.
Once a family has applied or been referred, they reach out to set up an outfitting appointment at the Sports Bank. There are options if transportation is a barrier and a remote outfitting package too!

Canadian Tire Jumpstart
A national charitable program that helps financially challenged families get their kids ages 4-18 years old involved in organized sport or physical activity. Funds help cover registration, equipment and/or transportation costs up to $300 per child/activity with an annual maximum of $600. (subject to Chapter discretion and/or local demands)

Kidsport: So ALL Kids Can Play! (Calgary & Area)
Kidsport believes that no kid should be left on the sidelines and all should be given the opportunity to experience the positive benefits of organized sports. KidSport provides support to children in order to remove financial barriers that prevents them from playing organized sport. Low income families are eligible to access up to $500 per child per calendar year for registration fees, as well as providing no-cost equipment in organized sport programs for their children 18 years old and under.

Hockey Canada Foundation
The Hockey Canada Foundation Assist Fund was created in response to the many families experiencing financial challenges. The goal of the Fund is to help Canadian youth access hockey and return to the game they love.
The Assist Fund will provide up to $500 per player in registration fee subsidies to approved applicants who are registered with a Hockey Canada-sanctioned association.

Lindsay's Kids' Hockey & Ringette Sponsorship
The Lindsay Leigh Kimmett Memorial Foundation offers sponsorship through the Lindsay's Kids minor hockey/ringette sponsorship program.
Criteria for the selection of successful applicants will be based on financial need and a personal essay. All applications will be held in the strictest confidence and the successful applicants will not be publicized anywhere.
Requirements:
- Applicants must be between 5 and 17 years of age and participate in a program coordinated by Cochrane Minor Hockey Association, Cochrane Recreational Hockey League, and Cochrane Ringette.
- Sponsorships are available one time only, per qualifying child.
- FRN Family Resource Workers will assess financial eligibility based on LICO (Low Income Cut Off – Canada) and a supportive conversation with the applicant’s family member responsible for the hockey / ringette costs (parent / guardian).
