As I’m sure you are aware, the COVID-19 (novel Coronavirus) situation has changed at a rapid pace over the past week and it was critical for the Town to respond quickly. This resulted in the Town implementing necessary preventative measures to limit the spread of infection and keep our residents, employees, and community safe and healthy.

The Cochrane RancheHouse, including our office, is currently closed to the public, however our staff are still available via phone or email. This has significantly impacted how we provide service and we appreciate everyone’s patience as we adjust to this unique situation.

New in cochrane.ca/Planning:

Planning in the Town of Cochrane follows an established process, and becomes more specific with each step; each step has requirements that must be met before approval is received (whether for an entire subdivision or an individual structure). This ensures consistency across services (connecting to Town water, for instance), and allows the Town a view of the big picture: sustainability, long-term impact and managed growth.

Planning handles development planning policies, applications for statutory planning document amendments, subdivisions, developments and compliance certifications. The department also provides planning advice to Council, the Cochrane Planning Commission (CPC), and the Subdivision and Development Appeal Board (SDAB), as well as the general public.
