Cochrane Quick Start
Here are the first four practical things you need to know before you move to Cochrane.

1. Utility Account
Your Town of Cochrane Utility invoice includes amounts for water consumption, sewer consumption, Eco Centre fee, waste, recycling and organics collection and storm sewer fee.
- If you’re new to town, you’ll need to set up a new account.
- If you’re moving from another location in Cochrane, you must change your existing account.
Once your account is set up, we’ll deliver a waste, recycling and organics cart (new accounts) and make sure water service is turned on when you move in.
Invoices are emailed at the beginning of each month. Payment instructions are on the back of your invoice; sign up for pre-authorized payments (PAP) and never miss a payment deadline!

2. Taxes
Learn more about property taxes, including current tax rates and the annual tax cycle.

Register for Tax Installment Payment Plan (TIPP) and make monthly payments instead of one annual payment.

3. Pet licenses
Do you have a dog or cat? All dogs and cats over three months old must have a current Town of Cochrane licence.

4. Business licenses
Do you operate a business in the Town of Cochrane? If so, you must have a Town of Cochrane Business License.
