Healthy Relationships Program

For Men or Women struggling with abusive behaviours in their intimate and/or family relationships.

Are you stressed in your personal relationship?
Do you want to reduce conflict, resolve disagreements and strengthen your relationships in a healthy way?

This program provides an opportunity to: 

  • increase self-awareness
  • learn how to manage emotions
  • manage personal stress
  • understand the impact of abusive and unhealthy behaviours on their partner and their children
  • learn non-abusive conflict resolution skills
  • improve communication skills
  • learn that they have alternatives to previously destructive choices in their intimate and family relationships

Healthy Relationships Group Program for Men involves:

  •  an intake appointment with program staff
  • weekly 2-hour group sessions for 14 weeks (offered three times per year)
  • sessions include group discussion, activities, information sharing

This program includes men how are required to attend a treatment service for abusive behaviours toward their partners as well as men who voluntarily choose to participate.

In either case, group participants are expected to attend all 14 sessions. Make up sessions may be possible depending on the circumstances and availability of program staff- to be determined individually.

Healthy Relationships Individual Counselling Program for Men involves: 

  • an intake appointment with program staff
  • number of individual sessions are decided with program staff and depend on needs 

The program encourages men to examine their understanding and expectations of intimate partnerships, and their thoughts, behaviours and relationship challenges in a supportive group setting.

Healthy Relationships Group or Individual Counselling Program for Women who are using abusive behaviours in their intimate relationship involves:  

  • an intake appointment with program staff
  • group will be offered when there are enough women referred to offer a group
  • individual sessions are decided with program staff and depend on needs

The program encourages women to examine their understanding and expectations of intimate partnerships, and their thoughts, behaviours and relationship challenges in a supportive group setting.
