TOWN DEFERS TO PROVINCIAL MASK MANDATE IN LIEU OF EXTENDING LOCAL BYLAW

Masks-Web

Town Council will allow Bylaw 20/2020 (Mandatory Face Coverings bylaw) to expire on May 1, and instead defer to the provincial mask mandate announced by Alberta Health on December 8, 2020.

Council passed the Mandatory Face Coverings bylaw in July 2020, making it mandatory to wear a face covering or non-medical mask in indoor public places and public vehicles.

The face covering bylaw was reviewed and renewed by Council in February 2020 with a 90-day repeal date and an option for Council to extend.

During the pandemic, the Town supports and relies on health experts wherever possible. Allowing the provincial mask mandate to prevail aligns with this approach.
