1. Why are we doing this now?

The existing infrastructure along Glenpatrick Drive is aging, leading to concerns regarding remaining service life and reliability.

This project will replace aging infrastructure, improve traffic movement and pedestrian safety in the community.

2. What is included in the project scope?

• Removal and replacement of deep utilities.
• Surface rehabilitation work on Glenpatrick Drive from Glenbrook Crescent to 5th Avenue.
• Replacement of water and sanitary services to the property line.
• Replacement of sidewalks, curbs and gutters within the project area.  
• Restoration of driveway and landscaping a result of sidewalk widening and installation of services.
• Replacement of asphalt from 5th Ave to Glenhill Drive.
• Installation of bumpouts on the crosswalk south of Glenbrook Cres and gravel path crossing east of Glenhill Drive to improve pedestrian visibility and safety.
• Installation of mini-roundabout (traffic button) is proposed at the intersection of Glenpatrick Road and Glenhill Drive to traffic increase safety.

3. What can residents anticipate while the work is taking place?

To minimize the impacts to the residents, the construction will be carried out in phases. Further information on the phasing plan will be forthcoming once a contractor is brought on board for the project.

At points during construction, road detours, sidewalk closures and limited parking will occur. Support will be provided throughout construction to assist.

• Road access will be limited during construction. Temporary parking will be provided to residents on the identified adjacent land.
• Waste collection and recycling in the active construction area will be handled by the Contractor.
• The contractor will be available to support with move in/ move out, transporting groceries, and accessibility arrangements through active construction zones.
• During sanitary and water service replacement, temporary water service connections will be provided.

4. When will this work take place?

Construction will begin in the spring and is anticipated to be complete by fall 2023. 

5. When complete, what will the project include?

• Sidewalks will be widened to support mobility and pedestrian activity. 
• Glenhill Dr / Glenpatrick Rd/ Glenpatrick Dr intersection will be upgraded with a mini-roundabout to support traffic flow and create safer pedestrian crossings. 
• Storm system on Glenbow Dr will be upgraded to increase capacity, resulting in reduced frequency and intensity of surface flooding adjacent to the railway tracks.
