1. Where is the Eco Centre located?

The Town of Cochrane Eco Centre is located at 50 Griffin Industrial Point.

2. What are the Eco Centre hours of operation?

The Eco Centre is open Tuesday-Saturday from 9am to 5pm.  Modified programs available see page for details.

3. What is accepted at the Eco Centre?

The Town of Cochrane Eco Centre accepts a wide range of materials for recycling. Check the web page for a complete list, including special and seasonal programs.

5. What can I do with my Styrofoam (expanded polystyrene)?

We are accepting white, block, packing foam.  It must be free of tape, labels & colour.  Limit of 2 bags per household/business per week for Cochrane and Rocky View residents only.  Proof of residency may be requested.  

We are not accepting Styrofoam peanuts, meat trays, coloured foam or egg cartons until further notice.

6. What do I do with meat trays, egg cartons and foam take-out containers?

Accepting, sorting, cleaning up and processing Styrofoam at the Eco Centre involves a lot of material handling by staff; safety for the public and staff can not be guaranteed. To safely deliver all other services at the Eco Centre, meat trays, egg cartons, meat trays and take-out container Styrofoam recycling cannot be currently resumed.  Please bag and put in your black cart as garbage.

7. I have appliances. Where can I take them?

You can bring your broken small appliances to the Cochrane Eco Centre and put them into the E-Waste cage.  For larger appliances like a fridge, stove, washer, dryer, air conditioner, hot water tank, water cooler or freezer, fees will apply, speak to an attendant when you get onsite and they will direct you.   Visa, Mastercard and Interac accepted. 

For working used appliances, Home Reno Heaven may accept them but please call first to check their capacity 403-851-1117.

8. Does the Cochrane Eco Centre recycle mattresses?

No, the Cochrane Eco Centre does not accept or recycle mattresses or boxsprings. RE-MATT in Calgary does though (403-918- 6411), otherwise we recommend driving them to the City of Calgary Spyhill landfill.

9. Does the Cochrane Eco Centre take used furniture?

No, the Cochrane Eco Centre does not take used furniture. There are various re-use programs in Cochrane and area that might take your used furniture for a donation, otherwise it needs to go to a landfill outside of Cochrane.
