Canadian Pacific Railway ( CPR) is removing the siding track in May of 2022 at River avenue, Centre avenue and Fifth avenue crossings. The Town of Cochrane is required to fund the relocation of the signal arms, rehabilitation to the road surface and pedestrian connections once the track has been removed.
Fifth avenue CPR crossing
River avenue CPR crossing
Centre avenue CPR crossing
Work on 5th Ave and Centre is complete. CP will be returning in August to upgrade the River Avenue mainline crossing to concrete crossing surfaces.
May 3-10 2022
As part of this project the existing crossing at River avenue has reached its service life and is becoming a hazard to vehicle traffic due to the rough surface. The existing rubber product will be replaced with pre-cast concrete to improve the crossing. In addition, there is currently no pedestrian link on the East side of River avenue through the CPR right-of-way which will be enhanced to provide more connectivity.
Total project budget: 820,000
