Cochrane Transit makes it easy to get around town. A combination of fixed-route and on-request services gives you more options to travel where you need to go. Fixed-route buses run on regular schedules along key corridors, making trip planning simple and reliable. Areas not covered by the fixed routes are served by our on-request service, ensuring everyone can stay connected.
Cochrane is improving our transit system:
Based on community feedback, technical assessment and best practice research, Council approved an updated detailed transit service design in March 2025 including:
- Fixed route transit system: Three fixed routes are now available, serving popular transit stops and key neighborhoods to reduce traffic and lower emissions. Each route follows a consistent schedule with clearly marked stops, making trip planning easier than ever.
- Continued on-request service: The current on request transit system will continue to be available, supporting areas not covered by fixed routes.
- Future expansion of the fixed route transit services: Some neighbourhoods won’t have fixed-route service right away due to ongoing construction. But as new roads and neighborhoods are completed, fixed route services are planned for Sunset Ridge (north and west), Heritage Hills (east), Glenbow, Greystone, Fireside (west). Fixed route services will be available in these areas in 2026.
- Ongoing monitoring: Cochrane staff will be closely monitoring how the system is working. We will use rider feedback, data and community input to make improvements as needed. Stay tuned for opportunities to provide your feedback on transit or contact transit customer service.
- More accessible stops: We’re also working to improve transit stops across town. This includes better paths, ramps, signs, shelters and other features to make sure everyone can use transit safely and comfortably. These upgrades will happen over time, based on priority.
