In Alberta, municipal elections take place every four years. During elections, Cochrane residents vote to elect a Mayor and six Councillors.
In Cochrane, the Mayor and Councillors are elected at-large. This means they represent the entire community, rather than a geographical ward, like in Edmonton or Calgary.
Elections for our local school boards — Rocky View School Division and the Separate School Board — occur on the same day as our municipal election. For voter convenience, these elections are facilitated by the Town of Cochrane.
