Census results are submitted to Alberta Municipal Affairs in June; the new population figure should be declared official by the province in September.

Why is there both a municipal and federal census? Municipal census numbers are used immediately by the Town for long-term planning discussions, and by the province for next year's funding opportunities. Federal numbers make an impact on provincial funding dollars in the year or two after the federal census.
