Council got their first look at detailed renderings for the new Protective Services Building at their January 25 meeting.
The project update included the proposed design and renderings of the building which will be located on a 4.66 acre parcel in Heartland. The new building will house RCMP, Cochrane Municipal Enforcement and Victim Services under one roof, fostering a closer relationship between the agencies to provide residents with a single location for all policing matters.
The Town identified the need for the new detachment through its obligations under the Municipal Police Service Agreement, which requires the municipality to provide police member accommodations. The current detachment is a federally owned asset which is well beyond its functional life.
The project was approved in the 2020 budget; construction is scheduled to commence near the end of April 2021, with completion scheduled for spring 2023.
