FAQ's for voters
The 2025 Cochrane municipal election was on Monday, October 20, with polls closed at 8 p.m.
Cochrane has measures in place to ensure residents’ information is protected. Cochrane does collect some information from residents to support the administrative requirements of the local authorities election process. All personal information collected during the election is managed in compliance with the privacy provisions of the access to information statistics (formerly FOIP).
Every four years citizens have the opportunity to cast their ballot for the following offices:

Under new provincial legislation, municipalities are no longer allowed to use electronic vote tabulators. This means all ballots must be counted by hand.
Hand counting takes more time to ensure accuracy and fairness, so final results were not be available on election night.
