Criminal Record Checks and Civilian Fingerprinting

NEW APPLICATIONS:
The Cochrane RCMP will process the following record checks on a walk-in basis:
- Vulnerable Sector Check (includes a Criminal Record Check)
- Criminal Record Check (aka. Police Screening Check, Local Indices Check, CRC, CPIC Check)
Fingerprinting (Certified Criminal Record Check) are processed by appointment only.
Applications must be completed in person at detachment by the applicant only; proof of ID and physical residence is required.

WHAT TO BRING WITH YOU
- Two pieces of government issued ID, one must have your photo on it
- Proof of your current physical house address (P.O. Boxes are not acceptable, this must be a house or site address)
- If applicable, a volunteer or practicum letter confirming your position/enrolment with an organization/school

WHAT KIND OF RECORD CHECK DO I NEED?
The employer, organization or school requesting you to get a Record Check will tell you what kind they need you to get.
- Vulnerable Sector Checks (VSC) are for those who are working within the vulnerable sector. Examples of why you would need this level of Record Check include volunteering in a school, working in a medical facility, assisting a disabled person, etc. A VSC includes a CRC.
- Criminal Record Checks (CRC) are for those who are not in a position of authority or trust over a vulnerable person. You may require this kind of Record Check as a cashier, a receptionist, a tradesperson, etc.
- Certified Criminal Record Checks (fingerprinting) are for those who require government level security clearance, or who need to prove what their criminal record is if they have one.
